Race Results for 4/22/2006

The Idaho Super-six Racing League (ISRL) had the worst luck of the night with 3 cars giving turn 1 4 showers. Arden Dunker was the first one hitting the water barrels in turn 1 during the first hot lap session. Dunker actually drove up over the barrels and hit the signboard fence. Dunker was alright but the car suffered enough damage to end his night.

In the first heat race of the night Travis Strunk drove into the barrels in almost the same location ending his night. Sierra Jackson gets the dubious honors for tagging the same area twice during the main event. On the 3rd lap Jackson lost control and tagged the barrels. She was able to drive away and went to the pits to get checked out while the track was being dried. Jackson made it back on the track for the restart and as she took the green flag something on the car must have broke as she just drove straight into the water barrel in turn 1 again. Jackson walked away but the car was retired for the night.

Pat Quinn set the pace for the ISRL qualifying with a 14.365, Jackson qualified 2nd quick followed by Steve Waswick.

After Jackson’s mishaps the ISRL ran a perfect race. Hyrum Wilson starting on the outside pole took the lead from the green flag. He led the first 15 laps before Jason Skyberg took control on lap 16. Skyberg put a little distance between him and the rest of the field however Quinn was making his way through the field and was hungry for the win. With just a few laps remaining in the 30 lap main event Quinn was outside Skyberg vying for the top spot.

Skyberg were side by side with Skyberg just edging Quinn over the line as the white flag came out. As the two entered the backstretch it appeared Quinn appeared to have the lead. They both exited turn 4 dead even and Skyberg managed to cross the line just 0.20 seconds in front of Quinn. Both drivers received a standing ovation as they completed a cool down lap before entering the pits.
